| These wonderful horses were appliquéd onto a vintage blanket with a
hand embroidered poem, though the horses would look great galloping over
a patchwork quilt too! This truly unique and versatile appliqué pattern
is perfect for any horse lover! The paper pattern is available to purchase in my shop and features clear, detailed instructions, a full size jointed appliqué horse template and colour images. As you can see, I used some beautiful cardstock for my horse template and by arranging the limbs as you wish, your horses can walk, stand, canter and gallop! My blanket features 6 appliquéd horses, each approximately 18 x 12 inches, but you can obviously make as many horses as you wish. I used a small, tight zigzag stitch around the raw edges of the horses, added binding to the blanket edges (though traditional blanket stitch edge would also look great), and hand embroidered the poem. This is a quick and simple project and great fun to do! |
