Janet Clare in Studioabout me
After completing my Textiles and Fashion degree I worked as a freelance designer for many years. I then trained to be an infant school teacher and had a very rewarding and enjoyable few years teaching reception classes.

I enjoy quilting, dressmaking, knitting, painting, drawing, gardening, baking and reading. I make do and mend. And I love being in my studio with my thrifted and hand-me down treasures.

I like to be creative every day. Luckily, I don't like having my two arms the same length (doing nothing), so I can always find a little time for my sewing. I try to find joy in the mundane, and don't believe in keeping things for best.

I love Instagram and Pinterest and these help keep me in touch with the wonderful world-wide community of quilters and designers.

As an experienced speaker and teacher, I regularly host talks and workshops focusing on the design process and the creative techniques I use. So far I have written five books (and I have no plans to stop!) and created a range of quilt and stitchery patterns and designed twenty three fabric collections in collaboration with Moda.

My books and patterns are distributed by EQS and Moda Fabrics and Supplies to many quilt shops, but you can also find them on my Etsy store, as well as on Sewing Street TV, where I have a show about once a month.

I hope you enjoy looking at my website and my blog and leave feeling inspired to get creating it wouldn't do to have your two arms the same length now would it?
