I am a qualified teacher and have a degree in textile design and I am now running classes from my own studio in Farnborough, Hampshire. We will be re-opening the studio for workshops soon.

1 Day Workshop - Free-Motion Stitching and Fusible Appliqué

In this fun workshop I will give you an introduction to fusible appliqué free-motion stitching with your sewing machine. These are my favourite techniques and a really important part of how I achieve my quilting style.

In the morning, you will learn how to draw using your sewing machine through a series of fun exercises, no real-life drawing skills are required! In the afternoon, everyone createsa small appliqué picture, walking step by step through the process, piecing a background, making the appliqué and adding a little free-motion stitching and perhaps hand embroidery.

Honestly, no real life drawing skills are required. I will be right there to help you design, draw any templates required and guide you to create your very own unique projects. I look forward to meeting and creating with you!

1 Day Workshop - Quilted memories to cherish

This workshop is about noticing and cherishing the simple things in life and stitching our stories. I will share the inspiration behind my work and my book ‘The Wordsmith’ and share some of the tales that inspired my memory quilt.

We will explore the quilt-as-you-go method and you will learn how I layer techniques such as fusible appliqué, free-motion stitching, hand quilting and embroidery. We will also look at ways to transfer lettering and text to fabric and methods to stitch them.

You will have everything you need to inspire you to begin creating unique pieces inspired by your favourite word, saying, adage, poem, animal, holiday or other story and I will be right there to help you draw, design and create your own family heirloom.

So come, gather your fabrics and threads and stitch with me.

9-day Holiday Exploring the Textiles and Traditions of Armenia - 22nd Sep 2025

Joine me to explore the textiles and traditions of Armenia on this wonderful 9-day holiday. We will discover the ancient city of Yerevan, the unique historic village Khndzoresk, and Goris, a small-town bursting with historical cultural and natural landmarks. The textiles of Armenia will come to life as we meet local artisans, learn about Armenian embroidery, participate in latch-hooking and batik workshops, as well as enjoying sewing workshops with me too!
